11/24/21 Update
Regrettably, all tags have been filled and we are no longer taking appointments for this choose and cut season. We know that this will prevent some of you from being able to see us this year, but we will be operating in the same way next year and hope that you will look for the day when appointments open up and be able to see us then. If you have made an appointment already, then we look forward to seeing you at that appointed time.
If you are still looking at coming to Alleghany County for a tree, you can check with Billy Edwards Tree Farm, Papa Goats Tree Farm, or Lil Grandfather Tree Farm.
10/8/21 Update
Alright, yall...we are ready to start taking appointments. Before you reach out to make an appointment, this is what you need to know:
- We are pesticide free. These trees will be treated organically in the weeks leading up to opening to hopefully eliminate the chance of you ending up with any creepy crawlies in your tree. But, as always, when you bring nature into your house, that's a risk you take.
- As is the case with everything else, our prices have to go up to accommodate the increase of labor, supplies, fertilizer, etc. We absolutely hate to do this, but we will still be below the standard $10+ per foot that most farms have been charging for years.
- If your tree is 8' (this is the standard size) or smaller, it will be $70. If it is larger than that, it will be $80. If you are looking for something in the 5' or smaller range, we'll work something out.
- We are only going to open for trees on these specific days - Monday (11/22), Tuesday (11/23) Wednesday (11/24) and Friday (11/26). As always, the earlier you are able to come, the better your selection is going to be. Friday is always the most popular day to come, but once our Friday slots are full, they are full.
- We will have plenty of wreaths and white pine roping. You do not need an appointment for those, simply come to the barn during open hours. Custom size wreaths are also available. Message us for details.
- Lastly, we will offer once again the opportunity for wreathmaking classes. This is a great event for families or businesses that want to do something fun for their employees. We provide everything that you need including hot chocolate, cider and cookies. Prices vary on wreath size. Message us for details.
There are three ways you can make an appointment for one of those days. Text (336-813-2929), email (stamperja@gmail.com) or facebook message. We will confirm your message upon receiving it.
When you message us, we need your name, the day you are coming, the approximate time you are coming and how many trees you are getting. We will start at 9 in the morning and run until dark.
If there are other applicable questions that come in that we haven't thought of, we will update as we go. We ask for your patience, as we've never had to operate this way before and certainly don't like having to do so.
River Hill Tree Farm is a small, family operated farm that specializes in choose and cut, pesticide free, Fraser Fir Christmas trees. The farm is situated on 23 acres, about 5 of which are in trees. Our trees are lightly fertilized and gently shaped and nature does the rest. Because of that, we have a large variety of shapes and sizes. If you are looking for thousands of perfectly shaped, full trees that all look the same to choose from, you won't find that here. If you are looking for a natural, pesticide free tree and a memorable family experience, we can't wait for you to join the others who come to River Hill Tree Farm year after year. After all, growing trees is just part of what we do. Our slogan here is: "Growing Christmas Memories."
We encourage families to take their time and find your perfect tree. Once you find it you just need to stick a tag on it and we'll take it from there. Come on back to the barn and feed the goats or play with the bunnies while your tree is cut, brushed out, bailed and loaded onto your vehicle for you. Browse our selection of handmade wreaths while you enjoy a complimentary cup of cider or cocoa and cookies.
Don't take our word for it, come see for yourself!
